Butterflies 04/03 at Located in exhibit building 2 daily
Butterflies will be visiting our County Fair again this year. They will be in a tent in the Horticulture Pavilion, Exhibit Building Two. All your favorite butterflies will be there. Just like the ones you see flying around in your backyard. But there will be more. Some you may never have seen before. But we need your help. At noon on the third of April, the day the Fair opens, we have 100 butterflies to release. Can you help us? It is a big job you see. They come to us in envelopes and we have to take them out of the envelopes and encourage them to fly. Once they fly they are so happy. They will come back and land on your head or your arm or even your nose. You will have made a friend for life. Really!
Among some special butterflies this year you will meet the beautiful Gulf Fritillary. This is the orange butterfly you may see once in awhile in your back yard. The Zebra Longwing will also be here. He has long narrow wings with yellow stripes. Maybe he will remind you of the Zebra you see at the zoo. That is where he gets his name.
So please come out at noon on opening day and help us release the 100 butterflies. And stop back during the Fair to renew your acquaintance with the butterflies you release. They will be there in the Horticulture Pavilion. But remember Butterflies are like you and me. They go to sleep at night. They go to sleep when it gets dark. But they get up early when the sun rises. Butterflies are just as friendly as you are. Come and visit all during the Fair.
