Want to be a Livestock Buyer?

Thank you for participating in the 2024 4-H/FFA Youth Livestock Sale. The sale is a part of our Fair that the Fair Association is proud to sponsor and facilitate for the steer and swine participants. Please use the link or QR code to register as a buyer. All buyers must complete the online form prior to the sale.
The Clay County Agricultural Fair’s Steer and Swine auction is the end result of the 4-H and FFA Youth Member’s year-long projects. It is an educational experience, as well as a business venture. The members get the opportunity to have a “hands-on” experience while learning all about the beef and pork markets. They discover what agriculture production is all about and the kind of responsibility necessary to survive in it.

The members have selected, fed, and groomed their steers and hogs for competition and marketing. At this market, everyone hopes to receive better prices than the current market prices. Having community support at the auction makes it possible for the young people to receive recognition and the motivation to earn and save college funds or to buy more animals and possibly start their own herd. Many youth go through this program and come out as great leaders, educators, and responsible adults.

Registrations after Monday, April 8th, we will not mail tickets with the fear that they will not arrive before Friday, April 12th.

4-H/FFA Youth Livestock Auction Buyer Pre-Registration Form

Friday April 12, 2024, Buyer Dinner & Auction

  • Buyer Dinner: prior to the auction at the Godbold Building at 5:00 P.M.
  • Auction: starts at 7:00PM in the Livestock Barn

How to Participate:

  1. Pre-Register no later than Monday, April 8, 2024.
  2. Buyer Dinner (tickets required to enter grounds for dinner and auction)
    • Receive Sale Information
3. Sale (if you are a buyer, please bring a business card for us to staple to the sale card once bought)
    • Bid on animal of your choice
    • Minimum billed bid on steer $.25 & swine is $1.00. Anything below the participant is responsible for collecting. It will not be added to the final sale or billed by the Fair.
    • Once animal is sold by the auctioneer NO ADD ONS Once sale is complete NO adjustments can be made.
    • Take picture with participant
    • Give buyer & slaughter information to sale workers
    • All animals must go to slaughter to a USDA-FSIS facility. (you choose your slaughter facility, and slaughter facility has to provide transportation)
    • Slaughter facility will contact you for your cutting instructions & delivery date of meat.
    • You will be billed for your purchase by email listed on the multi-buyers’ form, from karen@claycountyfair.org or info@claycountyfair.org. Bill must be paid by June 30, 2024

Once you have purchased an animal, to ensure all records are correct, you will need to provide the following information for each purchase to indicate what you would like to have done with the animal. You will be billed for your purchase by email, please check your junk/spam.
